Name: Dr David VOSS

Dr David Voss is a senior specialist renal physician based in New Zealand. He qualified with his medical degree at University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. He trained in the speciality of renal medicine in New Zealand and Scotland. His current appointment is 0.5 FTE at the public hospital - Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau Health, Auckland. He was one of the two renal specialists that instigated physician-based interventional dialysis access at Counties Manukau Health – both for haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. He consults in private in various locations in New Zealand. He owns and operates the only private fee-paying haemodialysis unit in New Zealand, and provides private dialysis for home based peritoneal dialysis.

Dr Voss consults in Fiji regularly and is the specialist advisor to the haemodialysis unit and National Kidney Foundation of Samoa. He regularly visits the Samoa unit for times per annum. He has held this position of specialist renal physician to NKF Samoa since 2009.

He has a special interest in all aspects of nephrology and renal replacement therapy, but in particular early detection and management of renal disease, renal nutrition and dialysis access.

He has been a speaker at the two previous meetings of the Dialysis Access Society and is again this year at the third meeting of the now Asia Pacific Society of Dialysis Access. His topics are the ‘Current State of Dialysis Treatment and Vascular Access Management in Australia and New Zealand’; and ‘New Insights on the Design of PD catheter – Current Advances or Novel Strategies in the Design of PD Catheter for the improvement in Techniques Survival’.
